Welcome English 12


    Bell Ringer: What event changed your life? Or What object or possession has significant value/meaning to you? Why?
When finished, students are to begin reading over the English 12 syllabus.

 Agenda:

  • Teacher will introduce herself and the course including syllabus and course outline. Students will understand the rules, procedures and expectations. 
  • Students will then pair up with the person behind them. How do you go about describing an object or event in writing? What are some important things to keep in mind when describing something to another person?  Create a list of descriptive words regarding your object or event.
  • Students will share with class. Teacher will give a piece of paper to each group. The person with the paper is the speaker – Hot Seat
  • Teacher will then share a personal story along with the object of meaning.
  • If power point doesn't work, students will begin writing - first brainstorming, then creating a list which includes the 5 senses.
  • Teacher will then explain the descriptive essay through a power point presentation “Show, Don’t Tell”
