  • In groups,  we will continue reading the Prologue, using reading strategies (direct and indirect characterization) and annotating. Students will also point out satirical elements throughout. Each group will be chosen to present a particular character, noting characterization and satirical elements.

    •  Introduction to the Canterbury Tales - Students will take notes on two different presentations. Students can view presentations on iPad through class blog or Edmodo.
    • Resumes- Students will see bad, good, and better examples of resumes. Students will begin typing their own.

    1.       Do you think a person is born evil? Or do you think evil is created by circumstances? Explain. Provide an example. 

    2.       What do you consider to be a modern-day monster? Explain your answer. Provide at least 2 examples and explanations.

    3.       Based on your reading, what are the heroic codes of the Anglo-Saxon period? Do you feel these are the same as our world today? How so? If not, how have they changed?

    4.       Discuss the statement, “Your reputation precedes you.” How does this apply to your own life? How important is a person’s reputation to his future? How can a person’s reputation be created based on social media sites?

    5.       List 5 qualities that constitute a hero.  Explain why each quality makes that person heroic.  Which should be held in high regard: physical achievements, intellectual attributes, or moral qualities? Defend your answer.

    BR: Pronoun, Adjective, and Noun Practice. Students will complete the first page in the Language Workbook.

    Agenda:

    -Students will take the Benchmark pre-test.
    ·        - Teacher will review the Conclusion paragraph with components and examples. Students will continue writing the Body Paragraphs and conclusion in library.
    ·         -If time allows, students will be divided into groups and will answer the questions given to them regarding the Anglo-Saxon period.

    Pronoun practice: Underline pronoun and label the type:  personal, reflexive, demonstrative,  interrogative, relative, and indefinite.

    • Writing: Teacher will introduce the Conclusion paragraph with components and examples. Students will continue writing the Body Paragraphs
    • Literature: 1st Block: Introduction to the Anglo-Saxon period- Students will view a Viking video, paying close attention to the characteristics of the group. Teacher will show a map of Great Britain explain the time period and the various groups who invaded Europe during that time.
    •  4th Block will continue watching a clip of the Viking video where left off from the day before. 
    • Research: Students will be divided into groups and will answer the questions given to them regarding the Anglo-Saxon period.  Packet due Wednesday.
